Inside Valley Forge Park

What to Bring

Page history last edited by Anonymous 2 yrs ago

Don't leave home without:

  • Sunblock
  • Insect repellant - remember, deer ticks are abundant here. I've been bitten a few times and until I moved here, I never had a tick on me.
  • Hotel reservations (there is no camping in the park)
  • Bikes - there are fantastic trails for all levels of riders
  • Good walking/running shoes
  • Kites - lots of room to fly them!
  • RC airplanes - the park has a great area for this past the Covered Bridge/Farm parking area.
  • Frisbees
  • Picnic supplies - some spots in the park have picnic tables. One area down by the river has grills.
  • Poison ivy supplies - if you walk off the trails (and sometimes brush against something next to the trail), you're going to need it. My all-time favorites - Technu to get rid of the oils before the rash can appear; Zanfel, which will cure  poison ivy once you get it (and take away the itch - it's amazing stuff).
  • Cameras - There are tons of photo opportunities here, plus lots of natural beauty. If you forget your camera, King of Prussia Mall is close by.

Don't bring:

  • Rollerblades - except for the Betzwood area, there is no rollerblading in Valley Forge Park.
  • Skateboards - not allowed in the park.
  • Food for the animals - Please; they're wild. If you can't wrap your mind around a deer being a wild animal, pretend it's a bear.
  • Tents and camping equipment - unless you're staying at a campground listed on the Places to Stay page, there's nowhere to camp. Valley Forge Park does not allow overnight camping.
